Soho Photo Gallery is pleased to announce its 28th National Competition. The gallery, located in lower Manhattan, is New York City’s longest running co-operative photography gallery. All photo-based works are eligible, with no limitation as to subject matter or technique. All selected photographs will be exhibited in our gallery from July 12 to July 30 2023.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION The juror, Elizabeth Ellenwood will choose approximately 40 photographs for the exhibition. Cash prizes for first, second and third place winners will be awarded and up to four honorable mentions will be given as well. The photographers chosen, as well as the award winners, will be notified by email on or about May 15, 2023. The juror’s selections will also be posted on the Soho Photo website.

JUROR Elizabeth Ellenwood is a Fulbright Scholar, photographer, and ocean farmhand currently residing in Pawcatuck, CT. She blends her reverence for the ocean with her background in photography to create visuals that bring attention to ocean pollution and climate change. She spent 2021 in Norway, collaborating with scientists and creating a self-published book which highlights their research dedicated to plastic pollution. Elizabeth’s photographs have been exhibited and published both nationally and internationally, including at the Danforth Museum of Art, Photographer’s Eye Collective, Candela Gallery, Cyan Studio and Newport Art Museum. She holds a BFA from the New Hampshire Institute of Art and an MFA from the University of Connecticut. Elizabeth’s work experience spans from a darkroom technician, photography editor and coordinator, and documentary photographer.
