photo l.a.For 30 years, photo l.a. has celebrated and brought together the photography and arts community. It is with this mission that we present a biannual photography competition to help provide emerging and mid career artists/photographers opportunities to broaden their career prospects and promote their winning work on a platform within the photo l.a. network. Through our long-established partnerships with world-renowned fine art photography galleries, art fairs, museums, and publications, winners of past competitions have been discovered and picked up by international galleries, institutions, and magazines, expanding their fine art career in the process.

OUR MISSION For 30 years, photo l.a. has celebrated and brought together the photography and arts community from around the world to Los Angeles. It is with this mission that we present FOCUS photo l.a., the educative component of the live fair and a biannual competition open to help provide emerging and mid-career artists/photographers a platform to promote their work within the photo l.a. network and expand their career opportunities. THE COMPETITION FOCUS photo l.a. Finalists are determined by a panel of renowned art + photography experts who will select the Top 20 photographers from the completed submissions. All finalists will have their winning photograph professionally printed and expertly framed by our partners to be exhibited within the FOCUS photo l.a. installation during photo l.a. 2023. An estimated 10,000 patrons are expected throughout the photo l.a. weekend including curators, collectors, dealers, gallerists, artists, students, practitioners, and enthusiasts. One (1) Winner will be selected from the Top 20 Finalists and receive a $1000 cash award. Artists + Photographers can submit a MAXIMUM of ten (10) images per submission during the open period. Submissions are open to ALL Artists + Photographers working in all themes, types, and genres of photography. No original prints will be exhibited.
